How long does a new boiler installation take?

Most are quicker than people expect. Here's what to budget by job type.

A boiler replacement is less disruptive than many homeowners fear. The timescale depends on the type of job.

Like-for-like combi swap

Usually completed in a single day. The new boiler goes where the old one was, with minimal pipework changes.

System conversion

Converting from a conventional (tank-and-cylinder) system to a combi takes one to two days, as the old tank and cylinder are removed and pipework adjusted.

Boiler relocation

Moving the boiler to a new location adds pipework and time — typically two days.

On the day

We protect your floors, remove the old unit, fit and test the new one, flush the system, register the warranty and notify Building Control — then talk you through the controls before we leave.

What we do before we leave

A proper installation isn't just fitting the unit. We flush the system to remove sludge, pressure-test everything, fit a magnetic filter to keep it clean, register your manufacturer warranty, notify Building Control on your behalf, and walk you through the controls. It's the difference between a boiler that's "in" and one that's installed to last.

Minimising disruption

  • We protect floors and carpets before starting.
  • Most homes have hot water and heating back the same day.
  • We tidy up fully before we leave.
