Derby's Victorian terraces and large inter-war and post-war estates in Mickleover and Allestree are well suited to insulation and boiler upgrades. Pair solar with a home battery and you can store the electricity you generate by day to use in the evening, when grid power costs most. Any surplus you don't use can be exported back to the grid — and with the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), your supplier pays you for it. Export rates vary widely by supplier (typically somewhere between a few pence and the low-20s pence per kWh as of 2026), so the right tariff matters.
An MCS certified installation is required to access the Smart Export Guarantee and supports your manufacturer warranties. We're certifying so your Derby installation qualifies for everything it should — rather than cutting corners.
