Air Source Heat Pumps · Launching soon

Low-carbon heating, with up to £9,000 off through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme

An air source heat pump can heat your whole home using a fraction of the energy of a gas boiler — and the government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) takes £7,500 off the cost (or £9,000 for oil and LPG homes). We're completing our MCS certification now, so heat pump installation is launching soon. Register your interest to be first.

  • Up to £9,000 off through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme
  • Around 3–4× more efficient than a gas boiler

Heat pump installation is launching shortly

Heat pump installation — and claiming the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant on your behalf — requires MCS certification, which we're completing now. Register your interest and we'll contact you the moment we're live. The guidance below explains how heat pumps and the grant work.

How they work

What is an air source heat pump?

An air source heat pump works like a fridge in reverse. It pulls warmth out of the outside air — even when it's cold out — concentrates it, and uses it to heat your radiators and hot water. Because it moves heat rather than burning fuel to create it, it delivers around three to four units of heat for every unit of electricity it uses — the Energy Saving Trust puts the typical cost of an air source heat pump installation at around £11,000 before the grant. A gas boiler, by comparison, always gives you less heat than the energy you put in.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme: £7,500 explained

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a government grant that takes £7,500 off the cost of an air source heat pump in England and Wales. A few things make it genuinely attractive:

  • £7,500 for gas-heated homes — the standard grant for replacing a mains-gas boiler with a heat pump.
  • £9,000 for oil & LPG homes — a temporary uplift for off-gas-grid properties heated by oil or LPG, running from 21 July 2026 to 31 March 2027, for air source and ground source heat pumps.
  • It's not means-tested — any eligible homeowner can apply, regardless of income.
  • Your installer claims it for you — an MCS certified installer applies on your behalf and deducts the grant from your quote, so there's no waiting for a rebate.
  • No EPC required — the EPC and insulation-first requirements were removed in April 2026, making the grant easier to access.

Why you need an MCS certified installer

The £7,500 grant can only be claimed by an MCS certified installer — it's the rule that makes the scheme work. That's precisely why we're certifying before we offer heat pumps: so we can apply for your grant and you get every pound you're entitled to.

Is a heat pump right for your home?

Heat pumps suit most homes, but they reward a bit of preparation. They run most efficiently in homes that hold onto heat well — so loft and wall insulation are the ideal first step (something we can help with today). A well-insulated home means a smaller, cheaper heat pump and lower running costs.

  • Insulate first — a warm, well-sealed home gets the best from a heat pump. Start with loft insulation.
  • Outdoor space — the unit sits outside, about the size of an air-conditioning unit.
  • Radiator check — some radiators may need upsizing to run at lower temperatures; we'll assess this at survey.

Frequently asked questions

The BUS grant is £7,500 towards an air source heat pump in England and Wales. It's not means-tested — any eligible homeowner replacing a fossil-fuel system can apply, and your MCS certified installer claims it on your behalf.
We're completing MCS certification now and will launch heat pump installation shortly. Register your interest and we'll contact you as soon as we're live.
A heat pump is around three to four times more efficient than a gas boiler, so it uses far less energy to produce the same heat. Running costs depend on your tariff and how well insulated your home is — which is why we recommend insulating first.
Most homes are suitable, especially well-insulated ones. Some may need radiator upgrades to run efficiently at lower temperatures. We assess all of this at survey before recommending anything.
It's strongly recommended. A well-insulated home means a smaller, cheaper-to-run heat pump. We can carry out your loft and wall insulation now, ahead of your heat pump install.
