A home battery stores electricity — from your solar panels or from cheap off-peak tariffs — so you can use it in the evening when power is most expensive. It's the key to getting the most from solar. Launching soon alongside our solar service.
We're finishing MCS certification and will offer battery storage shortly, on its own or paired with solar. Register below and we'll be first to let you know. The information here is general guidance, not an offer of installation yet.
Solar panels generate most of their electricity in the middle of the day — often when nobody's home to use it. Without a battery, that surplus gets exported for a few pence per kWh. A battery captures it instead, so the energy you generate at noon powers your home at 7pm, when grid electricity costs the most — and using your own power is worth roughly twice as much as exporting it, which is what makes a battery so valuable.
Even without solar, a battery pays off with the right tariff: charge it overnight on a cheap off-peak rate, then run your home from it during the pricey daytime hours.
Like solar, a battery is an investment that pays back through lower bills. When we launch, we'll be able to discuss ways to spread the cost with monthly payments so you can start benefiting sooner. Battery (with solar) also currently benefits from 0% VAT.
